YOU

Client or Parent of Client

At Vancouver Speech Therapy we highly value collaboration! Whether you are the client or the parent of the client your input is necessary for progress. As the parent you know your child best so your goals are our priorities. Your input is valuable. At the end of every session whether it’s in home or online we take about 5 minutes to debrief you, the parent on what was done, progress and ideas for next session. It is important for us at Vancouver Speech Therapy to ensure you are informed about your child’s progress regularly and feel like you are apart of the therapeutic process.

Aman Sahnan

Registered Speech and Language Pathologist/ Clinical Director

Hi, my name is Aman Sahnan! I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology in 2018. I have experience working in both public and private settings. I began my career with the Edmonton Catholic School District, where I worked with preschool and kindergarten-aged children with various speech, language, and developmental disorders. Later, I joined a private agency in Burnaby, expanding my work to include children from preschool to school age. I am particularly passionate about helping non-verbal children find alternative ways to communicate.

I also enjoy working with adults, particularly in accent reduction. Having grown up with a mother who had an accent, I understand the challenges faced when adjusting to a new country and learning a new language.

Certifications:

  • Hanen: Learning Language and Loving It
  • Accent Reduction Teacher Training through Speech and Voice Global Enterprises
  • Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)

Amanat Dhillon

Registered Speech and Language Pathologist

Hello! My name is Amanat Dhillon, and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). I completed my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of Sydney in Australia in 2022.

My true passion lies in helping children discover their unique voices and empowering them to communicate in ways that best suit their individual needs. I firmly believe that effective communication is crucial for a child’s overall development and social interactions.

I take a holistic, family-centered approach, recognizing the importance of collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in a child’s care. By actively involving families in therapy and providing them with the necessary tools and strategies, I aim to empower them to support their child’s communication development both during and beyond our therapy sessions.

I see pediatric clients at our clinic in Abbotsford for language and articulation therapy and am currently accepting new clients.

Mary Dyck

Speech and Language Pathology Assistant

Hello! My name is Mary Dyck, and I am a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant with Vancouver Speech Therapy. I began my career working with children as a Senior Behaviour Interventionist in 2017 at a local clinic in Abbotsford, supporting clients aged 2–18 years. My responsibilities included teaching self-care and regulation, as well as communication and social skills. Although I initially believed behaviour intervention was my calling, in 2019, I was asked to take on the additional role of SLP Assistant and quickly discovered my true passion.

Working with nonverbal children has been especially rewarding for me. Helping to enhance a child’s ability to communicate their wants and needs, and supporting their families in achieving their goals, has been an amazing experience. I take great care to ensure that each child I work with has a positive experience during our sessions, receives the support they need to succeed, and looks forward to their next visit to our clinic.

While I currently support clients as an SLP Assistant, I’m planning to return to school soon to pursue a Master’s degree and become a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist.

Renver Ryan Sicat

SLP Assistant

Hello! My name is Renver Ryan Sicat, and I am the Office Manager and an SLP Assistant at Vancouver Speech Therapy Clinic / Meadow Minds. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the Philippines and bring seven years of corporate experience across various industries. However, stepping into the world of therapy and client support has been a truly transformative journey for me.
In addition to my administrative role, I also work directly with children as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant. This dual role has given me a deeper understanding of both the clinical and operational sides of the clinic. Working closely with our therapists and clients, I’ve been able to witness firsthand the incredible growth and progress of children.
This experience has deepened my compassion and reinforced my dedication to supporting families in accessing the care they need. Every day, I am inspired by the resilience and potential of the children we serve, and I take great pride in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all our clients.
I look forward to being a part of your journey and assisting you in any way I can!

Sulaf Alhajeri

Speech and Language Pathology Assistant

Hi! My name is Sulaf Alhajeri, and I am a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) with Vancouver Speech Therapy / Meadow Minds. I graduated from Trinity Western University in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Human Services and a minor in Business Administration.

My journey working with children began in 2021 as an after-school group mentor, where I supported their physical well-being, healthy lifestyle habits, and self-esteem. Later, I transitioned into behaviour intervention and developed a passion for 1-on-1 work. I enjoyed guiding children through challenges, celebrating their progress, and encouraging them to view setbacks as opportunities to try again.

In 2024, I began my career as an SLPA, and have grown to love it so much that it’s become a part of who I am today. There are not enough words (or buttons on TouchChat) to express how grateful I am for the opportunity to work with non-verbal children, meet them where they are, and help bring them out of their shell. I am passionate about supporting them in finding their voice, whether through speech, alternative communication methods, or other creative strategies, and helping them share their thoughts, ideas, desires, and unique personalities with those around them. The many moments of “Wow!”, “Yay!”, and “I did it!” are especially meaningful after hard work and perseverance as they were not just signs of progress; they were reflections of growing confidence and resilience. Watching a child challenge themselves, push past obstacles, and truly believe in their own abilities became my greatest motivation. Through this role, I’ve learned that when you believe in a child, they begin to believe in themselves too, and I work to help guide them to unlock new skills, strategies, and confidence that extend into their daily lives, social interactions, and communication.
